Phonics

The following 'How to' videos will be updated as we progress throughout the year, when we move into the next Phase.   We start working in Phase 2 in the autumn term.

Phonic assessments are completed every half term.  Your child's progress will be written in their school log book detailing areas that need support and more practise.

Guided reading in groups start after half term.  A new book will be shared with the group and Mrs Park on a weekly basis, twice a week.  We will will be focusing on decoding (identifying and blending the sounds to read the words), prosody (expression) and comprehension.  Your child will then take home that book to read with you, but they should be able to read it independently with only a small amount of help.  Each week your child's reading progress will be monitored and recorded in their home diary.

D - decoding, P - prosody and C - Comprehension.  Your child may go up to the next set of books before the end of term.

Any questions please do not hesitate to ask Mrs Park
